G80 Unfinished Receiver Overview

The G80 Unfinished Receiver is a precision-machined steel fire control unit (FCU) that serves as the serialized core of your G80 build. Unlike traditional polymer 80% frames with separate rails and components, the G80 Unfinished Receiver integrates the locking block, trigger housing, and slide rails into one monolithic unit. Heat-treated 4140 steel with a black nitride finish. Built to outlast polymer alternatives.

Once finished, the G80 Unfinished Receiver accepts any OEM or aftermarket Glock G19, G23, or G32 Gen3 components. That means access to the massive Glock aftermarket: slides, barrels, triggers, and more. The 120R grip module compatibility opens up even more options, including open-source grips you can 3D print yourself.

The G80 Unfinished Receiver was designed specifically to meet the VanDerStok compliance standard established by the Supreme Court in March 2025. Made in USA (Austin, TX). Ships with pins and slide lock spring included. Current lead time is 4-6 weeks. Price: $129.99.

What Makes the G80 Unfinished Receiver Different

Monolithic Steel Construction
The G80 Unfinished Receiver combines the locking block, trigger housing, and slide rails into a single precision-machined unit. No separate rail assemblies to align. No plastic components to flex or wear. Just one solid piece of heat-treated 4140 steel that delivers tighter slide-to-frame fit and zero flex under recoil.

Black Nitride Finish
The G80 Unfinished Receiver features a black nitride finish for superior wear and corrosion resistance. Nitride outperforms Parkerizing and bluing in durability testing, making it ideal for carry guns, range builds, or harsh environments. The finish penetrates the steel surface rather than sitting on top, so it won’t chip or peel.

Integrated Design Features
The G80 Unfinished Receiver includes features that simplify assembly and improve function: integrated slide lock (no extra parts), built-in magazine overtravel stop (smoother reloads), captive trigger housing (stays in place), self-retaining coiled spring pins (easier maintenance), widened slide stop lever gap (better compatibility), and secured ejector retention (consistent ejection).

120R Grip Module Compatible
The G80 Unfinished Receiver uses the 120R grip module standard developed by Defense Distributed. Your finished receiver drops into any 120R-compatible grip, including the G80 Grip Module and grips designed for the G100 platform. Swap colors, textures, or ergonomics without changing the serialized component. Open-source grip files are available for 3D printing.

VanDerStok Compliant
The G80 system was engineered specifically to meet the Supreme Court’s VanDerStok standard (March 2025). The kit ships without all necessary components, requires uncommon tools, and takes over an hour to complete. All three criteria for federal legality, built into the product from day one.

G80 Unfinished Receiver FAQ

What is the G80 Unfinished Receiver?
The G80 Unfinished Receiver is a metal fire control unit (FCU) that serves as the serialized core of your G80 build. Unlike polymer 80% frames, this steel receiver combines the locking block, trigger housing, and slide rails into a single monolithic unit. Once finished, it accepts standard Glock Gen3 components to complete your privately made firearm.
What makes the G80 Unfinished Receiver different from Polymer80?
The G80 Unfinished Receiver is an entirely different approach. Polymer80 frames were single-piece polymer construction with integrated rails. The G80 uses a heat-treated 4140 steel receiver that drops into a separate grip module. This modular design means you can swap grip modules without replacing the serialized component, and the steel construction offers superior durability and rigidity.
What Glock parts work with the finished G80 Unfinished Receiver?
The finished G80 Unfinished Receiver accepts any OEM or aftermarket Glock G19, G23, or G32 Gen3 components. This includes complete slides, barrels, recoil springs, and frame parts kits. Gen3 through Gen5 magazines are all compatible. The included pins and spring replace corresponding parts from standard Glock lower parts kits.
Can I use G17, G26, or G34 slides on the G80 Unfinished Receiver?
No. The G80 Unfinished Receiver is designed exclusively for Glock Compact-class slides: G19, G23, and G32 Gen3. Full-size (G17/G22), subcompact (G26/G27), and longslide (G34/G35) configurations are not compatible.
What tools do I need to finish the G80 Unfinished Receiver?
You’ll need a G80 Jig (sold separately or included in the Build Kit). The Manual configuration works with a Dremel rotary tool and the included grinding stones and drill bits. The Machine configuration is designed for the Ghost Gunner GG3-S CNC mill. Both methods require milling metal obstructions and drilling pin holes.
How long does it take to finish the G80 Unfinished Receiver?
Manual finishing with a Dremel typically takes 1-2 hours for a first-time builder. The Ghost Gunner GG3-S significantly reduces hands-on time. This completion time also maintains compliance with the VanDerStok standard, which requires over an hour to complete.
What does “120R compatible” mean?
120R is the grip module standard developed by Defense Distributed for their G100 platform. Since the G80 Unfinished Receiver shares the same chassis dimensions, it’s fully compatible with any 120R grip module. This gives you access to the entire G100 grip ecosystem, including open-source designs you can 3D print.
Is the G80 Unfinished Receiver legal after VanDerStok?
Yes. The G80 system was specifically designed to meet the VanDerStok compliance standard established by the Supreme Court in March 2025. The kit ships without all necessary components, requires uncommon tools, and takes over an hour to complete, meeting all three federal legality criteria. G80 does not ship to states that have banned privately made firearms.
Do I need to serialize my finished G80?
Under current federal law, privately made firearms built for personal use do not require serialization. However, state laws vary significantly. Some states require serialization of all PMFs, others prohibit unfinished receivers entirely. G80 does not ship to restricted states. Always verify your local regulations before purchasing.
