G80 Build Kit Overview

The G80 Build Kit is the complete foundation for your 80% pistol project. No hunting for parts, no compatibility headaches, no guesswork. One kit, one shipment, everything you need to get started.

Inside you’ll find the G80 Unfinished Receiver (a precision-machined steel FCU), the G80 Jig (with all finishing tools included), and the G80 Grip Module in your choice of color. Three components engineered to work together, backed by the Supreme Court’s VanDerStok decision, and built to outlast polymer alternatives. This is the last major 80% platform still shipping.

The G80 Build Kit is priced below the combined retail of all three components purchased separately. You save money, skip the parts-sourcing rabbit hole, and get building faster. Compatible with Glock G19, G23, and G32 Gen3 components. Made in USA (Austin, TX). Current lead time is 4-6 weeks.

What’s Included in the G80 Build Kit

G80 Unfinished Receiver
The heart of your build. A precision-machined steel fire control unit that integrates the locking block, trigger housing, and slide rails into one monolithic unit. Heat-treated 4140 steel with black nitride finish for strength that polymer can’t match. Includes: receiver, 2x 3mm grip pins, 1x 4mm trigger pin, 1x trigger housing pin, 1x slide lock spring. These pins replace corresponding parts from standard Glock lower parts kits.

G80 Jig
The custom-engineered jig system that guides you through completing your receiver with precision. CNC-machined aluminum construction holds tolerances across multiple builds. Works with Dremel rotary tools (Manual) or Ghost Gunner GG3-S (Machine). Includes: jig hardware set, 2x 3.1mm drill bits, 1x 4.1mm drill bit, 1x large grinding stone. Everything you need to go from unfinished to functional.

G80 Grip Module
The 120R-compatible polymer grip module that houses your finished receiver. Multi Jet Fusion PA11 nylon construction for impact resistance and durability. Ergonomic grip angle matches Glock G19 Gen3 geometry for holster compatibility. Available in BLACK, FDE, ODG, or GRAY. Swap colors anytime, or 3D print custom grips from the open-source 120R ecosystem.

What Makes the G80 Build Kit Different

Steel Over Polymer
While Polymer80 and other competitors built their platforms on polymer frames, the G80 uses a heat-treated 4140 steel fire control unit. The result: tighter slide-to-frame fit, zero flex under recoil, and virtually unlimited service life. The monolithic design eliminates rail alignment issues common with multi-piece polymer frames.

VanDerStok Compliant by Design
The G80 was engineered specifically to meet the Supreme Court’s VanDerStok standard (March 2025). The kit ships without all necessary components, requires uncommon tools, and takes over an hour to complete. All three criteria for federal legality, built into the product from day one.

The Last Major 80% Platform
Polymer80 discontinued in July 2024. 80% Arms shut down their pistol line. The G80 Build Kit is now the primary legal option for builders who want a quality 80% pistol platform. Made in USA, still shipping, still supported.

Open-Source Grip Ecosystem
The G80 uses the 120R grip module standard developed by Defense Distributed. Your finished receiver fits any 120R-compatible grip, including those designed for the G100 platform. Buy additional colors from G80, or download open-source files and 3D print custom textures, ergonomics, and designs. No proprietary lock-in.

Bundle Value
The G80 Build Kit is priced below the sum of individual components. You get guaranteed compatibility (every part is designed and tested together), one shipment (no waiting on multiple orders), and more money left over for slides and parts.

G80 Build Kit FAQ

What exactly is included in the G80 Build Kit?
The G80 Build Kit includes three components: the G80 Unfinished Receiver (steel FCU with pins and slide lock spring), the G80 Jig (CNC-machined aluminum with grinding stones and drill bits), and the G80 Grip Module in your choice of color (BLACK, FDE, ODG, or GRAY). Together, these form the complete foundation for your 80% pistol build.
Is the G80 Build Kit everything I need to complete a pistol?
No. The G80 Build Kit provides the G80-specific foundation components. You’ll still need: a G19/G23/G32 Gen3 slide assembly (or slide + barrel + recoil spring separately), a lower parts kit (standard Glock Gen3 LPK), magazines, and finishing tools (Dremel for Manual configuration or Ghost Gunner GG3-S for Machine configuration). All of these are widely available from aftermarket suppliers.
What Glock parts are compatible with the finished G80?
The G80 accepts any OEM or aftermarket Glock G19, G23, or G32 Gen3 components. This includes complete slides, barrels, recoil springs, and frame parts kits. Gen3 through Gen5 magazines are all compatible. The G80 Build Kit includes its own trigger pin, trigger housing pin, and slide lock spring, which replace the corresponding parts from standard Glock lower parts kits.
Is the G80 Build Kit legal?
Yes. The G80 system was designed specifically to comply with the VanDerStok standard established by the Supreme Court in March 2025. The kit ships without all necessary components, requires uncommon tools, and takes over an hour to complete, meeting all three criteria for federal legality. Note: G80 does not ship to states that have banned privately made firearms. Restricted states are blocked at checkout.
Why is the G80 steel instead of polymer like Polymer80?
Steel fire control units offer superior durability, tighter slide-to-frame fit, zero flex under recoil, and virtually unlimited service life. The G80’s monolithic design eliminates the rail alignment issues common with multi-piece polymer frames. For builders who prioritize long-term reliability and precision, steel is the clear choice.
Can I swap grip module colors later?
Yes. The G80 uses the 120R grip module standard, so your finished receiver can drop into any 120R-compatible grip. Buy additional colors from G80, or explore the open-source 120R ecosystem to 3D print custom grips. Your serialized receiver stays the same, only the grip module changes.
How long does it take to finish the G80 Build Kit?
Most builders complete the G80 Unfinished Receiver in 1-2 hours using the Manual (Dremel) configuration. Machine finishing with the Ghost Gunner GG3-S is faster. This completion time also maintains compliance with the VanDerStok standard, which requires over an hour to complete.
Do I need to serialize my finished G80?
Under current federal law, privately made firearms built for personal use do not require serialization. However, state laws vary significantly. Some require serialization of all PMFs, others prohibit unfinished receivers entirely. G80 does not ship to restricted states. Always verify your local regulations before purchasing.
What is the current lead time for the G80 Build Kit?
Current lead time is 4-6 weeks. Lead times vary based on component availability. Check the product page for real-time stock status on each item in the kit. G80 products move fast and restocks can take time.
