Ghost Gun Kit Buyer’s Guide
What’s Included in a Ghost Gun Kit?
Every ghost gun kit on this page is a parts kit. You get the slide assembly, barrel, recoil spring, trigger group, and all the small internals (pins, springs, detents) needed to complete your build. Some kits also include a jig for finishing your frame.
What’s not included? The frame. Frames and receivers are classified as firearms under federal law, so we don’t sell those. You’ll need to source your own frame or 80% lower before you start.
If a kit is labeled “complete,” that means every ghost gun part is in the box except the frame. No tracking down individual components from five different vendors. Just match the kit to your frame platform and you’re ready to build.
9mm Ghost Gun Kits vs. .45 ACP
Most builders start with a 9mm ghost gun kit, and there’s a good reason. Ammo is cheap, parts compatibility is wide, and the recoil is manageable for newer shooters. Our 9mm kits are compatible with Glock 17 and Glock 19 frame platforms.
Want more stopping power? We also carry .45 ACP ghost gun kits. Check each listing for exact caliber and frame compatibility before ordering.
Polymer Frames vs. 80% Lowers
The frame you choose determines your tools, your build time, and which ghost gun kit you need.
Polymer frames (P80-style) are the most popular starting point. They require minimal tooling: a hand drill, the included jig, and a set of files. Most builders finish one in a couple of hours. If you’re looking at ghost gun kits for the first time, this is the easiest entry point.
80% aluminum lowers are the other option. They need a drill press or jig-mounted router, but the payoff is a more rigid, mil-spec platform. Both frame types are legal to build for personal use in most states.
How to Build a Ghost Gun from a Kit
The process is straightforward. First, finish your frame by drilling the pin holes and milling the rail channels using your jig. Then assemble the fire control group, drop in the slide and barrel, and install the recoil spring.
Most polymer builds can be completed in two to four hours with basic hand tools. Every kit ships with instructions specific to that platform, so you’re not guessing at pin sizes or spring orientation.
New to building? Start with a complete 9mm ghost gun kit on a P80-style frame. It’s the most forgiving combination and the one with the widest support community online.
