What’s Included in a Ghost Gun Kit?
Every ghost gun kit on this page is a parts kit. You get the slide assembly, barrel, recoil spring, trigger group, and all the small internals (pins, springs, detents) needed to complete your build. Some kits also include a jig for finishing your frame.
What’s not included? The frame. Frames and receivers are classified as firearms under federal law, so we don’t sell those. You’ll need to source your own frame or 80% lower before you start.
If a kit is labeled “complete,” that means every ghost gun part is in the box except the frame. No tracking down individual components from five different vendors. Just match the kit to your frame platform and you’re ready to build.
9mm Ghost Gun Kits vs. .45 ACP
Most builders start with a 9mm ghost gun kit, and there’s a good reason. Ammo is cheap, parts compatibility is wide, and the recoil is manageable for newer shooters. Our 9mm kits are compatible with Glock 17 and Glock 19 frame platforms.
Want more stopping power? We also carry .45 ACP ghost gun kits. Check each listing for exact caliber and frame compatibility before ordering.
Polymer Frames vs. 80% Lowers
The frame you choose determines your tools, your build time, and which ghost gun kit you need.
Polymer frames (P80-style) are the most popular starting point. They require minimal tooling: a hand drill, the included jig, and a set of files. Most builders finish one in a couple of hours. If you’re looking at ghost gun kits for the first time, this is the easiest entry point.
80% aluminum lowers are the other option. They need a drill press or jig-mounted router, but the payoff is a more rigid, mil-spec platform. Both frame types are legal to build for personal use in most states.
How to Build a Ghost Gun from a Kit
The process is straightforward. First, finish your frame by drilling the pin holes and milling the rail channels using your jig. Then assemble the fire control group, drop in the slide and barrel, and install the recoil spring.
Most polymer builds can be completed in two to four hours with basic hand tools. Every kit ships with instructions specific to that platform, so you’re not guessing at pin sizes or spring orientation.
New to building? Start with a complete 9mm ghost gun kit on a P80-style frame. It’s the most forgiving combination and the one with the widest support community online.
What is a ghost gun kit?+
A ghost gun kit is a package of firearm parts designed for home assembly. Our kits include the slide, barrel, recoil spring, trigger assembly, and all necessary pins and small parts. The frame or receiver is not included because those are classified as firearms. Once you have a compatible frame, a ghost gun kit gives you everything else you need to complete a functional build.
Do your ghost gun kits include a frame?+
No. Frames and receivers are legally classified as firearms, and we do not sell them. Our ghost gun kits include every other part: slide assembly, barrel, recoil spring, trigger group, pins, and springs. You will need to source a compatible frame on your own before assembling your kit.
What 9mm ghost gun kits do you carry?+
We carry a range of 9mm ghost gun kits compatible with Glock 17 and Glock 19 frame platforms. Options include complete parts kits with slides and barrels, as well as upper-only or lower parts kits if you already have some components. 9mm is our most popular caliber because of affordable ammo and wide parts compatibility.
What tools do I need to build a ghost gun?+
For polymer frame builds, you need a hand drill, drill bits (included with most jigs), a file or Dremel tool, and a punch set. For 80% aluminum lowers, you’ll need a drill press or router with a jig. Specific tool requirements vary by kit. Check the product listing for details before ordering.
Are ghost gun kits legal?+
Federal law allows individuals to manufacture firearms for personal use without a license, provided they are legally permitted to possess firearms. However, state and local laws vary. Some states restrict or ban unserialized firearms entirely. Check your local regulations before purchasing a ghost gun kit. We do not ship to restricted jurisdictions.
Do you sell ghost gun parts separately?+
Yes. In addition to complete ghost gun kits, we carry individual ghost gun parts including slides, barrels, trigger assemblies, and small parts kits. If you already have some components and just need to fill gaps, check the individual product listings on this page or browse our parts categories.
What about 3D-printed ghost guns?+
3D-printed frames are a separate category from the build kits we sell. Our kits are designed around standard platforms like P80 and Glock-pattern frames, using injection-molded polymer or machined aluminum. If you’re using a 3D-printed frame, verify that it accepts standard components before ordering, as tolerances and fitment can vary.
How long does it take to build a ghost gun from a kit?+
Most polymer frame builds take two to four hours with basic hand tools. Aluminum 80% lower builds can take longer depending on your tooling and experience. Every ghost gun kit includes step-by-step instructions specific to that platform, so even first-time builders can follow along.
